Ready Mix Driver – CRH

Tilcon Connecticut Inc., a CRH company, is a leading supplier of crushed stone, hot mix asphalt, and ready‑mix concrete, serving 23 locations across Connecticut. We provide opportunities for growth in a large corporation with a small‑company feel.

This position requires safe and efficient operation of concrete mixer trucks, following instructions from the Concrete Supervisor and Dispatch. The Driver is responsible for maintaining equipment cleanliness and supporting the company’s safety process.

• Operate truck safely and efficiently, reporting any issues to the manager promptly.
• Deliver the required number of ready‑mix concrete shipments each day, maintaining regular and reliable attendance.
• Complete the detailed delivery steps:
  • Unload truck, rinse a 2” hose into the tank, climb ladder to the catwalk, and clean the truck.
  • Attach chute(s) (approx. 50 lbs), operate controls to deliver concrete from ground or from the cab.
  • After delivery, thoroughly rinse the hopper, fins, drop hopper, top chute, and remaining truck components; disconnect and return chutes to rack.
• At day’s end, clean and wash the truck, refuel, park safely, and chock the tire.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Proven operational knowledge of mixer trucks and related equipment.
• Valid State Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work safely and efficiently, represent Tilcon positively to customers, and use the radio and truck‑tracking systems effectively.
• Maintain accurate time and materials records.
• Pass pre‑employment drug screen, criminal background check, and “Fit for Work” physical.

The role requires continuous sitting and driving;
frequent bending, climbing, reaching, and repetitive motion;
occasional kneeling, squatting, standing, walking, and lifting up to 75 pounds. Reasonable accommodations are available for disabilities.

Typical conditions include working near moving mechanical parts, occasional exposure to wet, humid, or hot weather, and moderate noise levels.
Continuous work involves moving equipment and teamwork;
frequent exposure to hot, cold, and noise;
occasional wet weather and high heat.
