The Audit & Assurance team predominantly undertake audit and other assurance work on behalf of our clients, however, they are also responsible for accounts preparation and tax computations too. We have audit clients across a range of sectors around the UK, from smaller not‑for‑profit organisations to entrepreneurial SMEs and through to large listed groups. No job is the same and we can guarantee variety, plus the opportunity to learn from a range of talented people, no matter your level.

In our Norwich‑based Audit & Assurance team, you can expect to get exposure to a diverse range of organisations from OMBs that expect a holistic service, to large corporates with turnovers of up to £120m e.g. listed companies and subsidiaries of large international groups. The length of assignments vary, but typically take around one to two weeks, ensuring that you get plenty of variety.

What will I be doing?

As an Audit & Assurance Assistant you will have ownership of the following tasks:

  • Undertaking smaller, less complex assignments on‑site, under guidance, raise and clear queries with the client or manager as appropriate.
  • Assisting on larger audit assignments and complete allocated sections thoroughly and efficiently, aiding the assignment leader with conclusions.
  • Devising, carrying out and recording moderately complex audit tests.
  • Demonstrating an increasing level of competence in drafting routine statutory accounts.
  • Showing an improving tax knowledge, attempting tax computations and raising appropriate queries.
  • Completing file to a stage of completion as agreed with assignment or team lead.
What experience do I need?

Whilst having the following experience is advantageous, we value passion and potential. If you meet the minimum criteria listed below and are eager to develop yourself, we would love to hear from you:

  • AAT part/fully qualified or ACA, ICAS, CA or ACCA part qualified (minimum criteria)
  • Experience of undertaking statutory audits in an accountancy practice in the UK (minimum criteria)
  • Knowledge of UK GAAP/FRS 102.
  • Client facing experience.
  • Experience of audit software (we use Caseware) and Microsoft packages.
