This is a standalone payroll position, ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of the end-to-end payroll function while working closely with Finance, HR and operational teams.

This role would suit a payroll professional who is highly organised, detail-oriented and confident managing payroll processes independently. You'll play a key role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, while continuously improving payroll processes and maintaining compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end monthly payroll process, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
  • Maintain payroll records, including starters, leavers, salary changes, contractual amendments and deductions.
  • Process overtime, allowances, travel claims and other variable payments.
  • Support pension administration, statutory payments, salary sacrifice schemes and payroll deductions.
  • Prepare payroll checks, reconciliations and variance reports prior to payroll approval.
  • Respond to payroll queries professionally and confidentially.
  • Support the processing and administration of employee expenses and allowances.
  • Prepare payroll journals, reconciliations and month-end payroll reporting.
  • Produce payroll reports and analysis to support Finance and management.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records in line with GDPR and internal controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll systems, processes and efficiencies.
  • Work collaboratively with HR, Finance and operational managers while maintaining ownership of payroll accuracy.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience managing end-to-end payroll.
  • A strong understanding of PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments and pensions.
  • Experience processing payroll with variable pay, including overtime, allowances and expenses.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Strong Excel and systems skills, with experience using payroll and HR systems.
  • The confidence to work independently while building effective relationships across the business.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet strict payroll deadlines.

What's on Offer

  • Standalone payroll role with autonomy and responsibility.
  • Supportive Finance team with experienced colleagues.
  • Opportunity to improve and develop payroll processes.
  • Stable organisation with a collaborative working environment.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.

If you're an experienced payroll professional looking for a role where you can take ownership of the payroll function and make a real impact, we'd love to hear from you.
