Position: Housing Options Admin Assistant

We are seeking a helpful, enthusiastic and well‑organised individual to fulfil a vital admin support function working with our busy Housing Options team to help us meet the requirements of the Renters Rights Act. This post is available on a 12‑month fixed term contract.

Job Description

The postholder will provide essential administrative support to frontline Homelessness teams and the Tenancy Relations Adviser. The role will contribute to strengthening early intervention, improving tenant protections, and enhancing engagement with private landlords and partners, in accordance with the council's duties under the Renters Rights Act.

Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support for housing needs assessments, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and recorded in line with statutory requirements
  • Assist in the preparation, updating, and monitoring of Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs), ensuring actions are recorded and reviewed within required timescales
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date case records, ensuring compliance with homelessness legislation and internal procedures
  • Support communication with applicants, landlords, and letting agents, including arranging appointments, follow‑ups, and correspondence
  • Assist in coordinating private rented sector accommodation opportunities, including logging available properties and tracking placements
  • Prepare and process documentation related to PRS placements, tenancy agreements, and housing applications
  • Support tenancy sustainment activity by assisting with monitoring cases, arranging mediation support, and tracking outcomes
  • Liaise with internal teams and external partners (e.g. landlords, support agencies) to ensure timely information sharing and case progression
  • Support officers in monitoring property compliance requirements and maintaining records in line with the Renters’ Rights Act standards
  • Assist with data collection, reporting, and performance monitoring to support service improvement and funding requirements
Skills Required

You will have strong organisational skills, a keen eye for detail, the ability to work independently and prioritise a mixed workload. You will be a great communicator, able to build good relationships quickly and enjoy working as part of a team. This busy, fast‑moving environment requires a positive and flexible approach, the ability to multi‑task and work well under pressure.
