We are recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority in Norfolk for an experienced Registered Building Inspector to join their Building Control team on an initial 612 month contract.
The role will involve carrying out building control inspections and ensuring that building work complies with the Building Regulations and relevant legislation. You will be working across a varied range of projects and dealing with developers, contractors, architects and other professionals on a day-to-day basis.
The main responsibilities will include:
Carrying out site inspections at various stages of construction
Assessing building work for compliance with the Building Regulations and relevant legislation
Reviewing plans, specifications and technical information
Identifying non-compliance and providing advice where required
Liaising with developers, contractors, architects, engineers and other stakeholders
Providing technical advice on Building Control matters
Maintaining accurate inspection records and completing reports
Managing your own workload and prioritising inspections
Ensuring inspections and decisions are carried out in line with legislation and professional standards
Keeping up to date with changes to Building Regulations and industry guidance
The successful candidate will have:
Class 2A + RBI registration
Previous experience working in Building Control, ideally within a Local Authority
Good knowledge of the Building Regulations and associated legislation
Experience carrying out building inspections across a range of projects
Good knowledge of construction methods, materials and practices
The ability to read and interpret drawings, plans and technical information
Good communication skills and the ability to deal confidently with a range of stakeholders
The ability to work independently and manage a caseload
Strong attention to detail and sound technical judgement
