About this role
Are you able to maintain a cool head during crisis situations? Do you care about others and want a career helping those in need? If so, this role may suit you. EEAST is looking for Call Handlers to work 12‑hour shifts from Monday to Sunday
, including a mixture of day and night shifts.
- Answer 999 calls to the Emergency Operating Centre promptly.
- Use the clinical triage software system to deliver appropriate responses to callers.
- Maintain politeness, courtesy and respect at all times when speaking with patients, callers and colleagues, in line with the Trust’s values and behaviours.
- Remain calm and supportive while callers may experience significant distress or trauma.
- Provide accurate, timely information and advice through the triage tool.
- Work full‑time, 12‑hour shifts Monday to Sunday, with both day and night coverage.
No clinical experience is required; all training and mentoring are provided and fully paid. Call‑centre experience is an advantage but not essential. Candidates should have strong customer‑service skills, the ability to listen, process information quickly and accurately, and stay calm when callers are distressed.
