Consultant Radionuclide Radiologist or Nuclear Medicine Physician

Applications are invited for a consultant radionuclide radiologist or nuclear medicine physician within the Department of Radiology at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The Nuclear Medicine Department is equipped with 3 Intevo Bold SPECT CTs. NNUH is part of the National PET/CT programme. PET/CT is currently provided by Alliance Medical from a fixed site adjoining the main hospital site with access to FGD, FEC and PSMA

The Department forms part of one of the most dynamic University Teaching Hospitals in the country, with an excellent reputation in patient care, research and development, and staff training/education.

Main duties of the job

Applicants would be expected to have wide experience in radionuclide Radiology including nuclear medicine and PETCT. The department would be flexible in accommodating any secondary areas of interest. The role would involve the day to day running of the nuclear medicine and PETCT departments as well as an involvement in future service developments. Given that we have a large radiology training scheme an enthusiasm and aptitude for teaching and training would also be an advantage.

The candidate would be expected to participate with colleagues in an out-of-hours general on call

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT in clinical radiology (Proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview), CESR, European Community Rights or an appropriate higher qualification.
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
  • FRCR or equivalent.
  • MRCP/FRCS
  • Capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Enthusiasm for service development and teaching.
  • Demonstrates understanding and commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Previous responsibility for service improvement.
Experience
  • Awareness of the role of research in clinical practice.
  • Extensive Imaging experience including experience in an area of subspecialty interest.
  • Applicants who are Nationals from another European country or elsewhere overseas would have to show equivalence to the 5 years training period in the National Health Service required for the specialty.
  • Completed specialist Fellowship
  • Experience in research or published papers in area of special interest
  • Further area of interest to compliment current service
Communications and Language Skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clinical colleagues and support staff across the organisation.
  • Ability to present effectively to an audience, using a variety of methods, and to respond to questions and queries.
Interests
  • Commitment to develop an appropriate special interest.
Circumstances
  • Flexible outlook on working hours
  • Must live within a 15-mile radius of the base Trust or 30 minutes travelling time
  • Ability to travel across multi-sites whilst public transport may not be available
