Endometriosis Surgical Fellow; STequiv

This is a specialist Endometriosis Surgical Fellowship at registrar level, offered for a minimum fixed term of 12 months. The post is designed for doctors who wish to develop substantial expertise in the assessment, multidisciplinary management and advanced surgical treatment of endometriosis. The focus of the role is endometriosis: it is not a general gynaecology fellowship and the post-holder will not be expected to routinely provide general gynaecology service activity.

The fellowship will provide intensive experience in specialist endometriosis clinics, complex elective operating, multidisciplinary team working, pathway development, patient communication and service improvement. We explicitly welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate a very high level of interest in and commitment to endometriosis, including candidates whose training or qualifications have been obtained outside the traditional UK training pathway.

The post-holder will work as an integral member of the specialist endometriosis team and will report to the Service Lead for Endometriosis. The focus of all programmed clinical activity will be endometriosis. The post-holder will undertake specialist endometriosis clinics and elective endometriosis operating lists. There is no requirement to routinely undertake general gynaecology activity but the postholder will contribute to the Obstetric and Gynaecology on-call rota (restricted to Gyanecology on-call during the normal working day).

This fellowship requires close teamwork across the specialist multidisciplinary service. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, dependable and committed to endometriosis as a specialty. They will be expected to work collaboratively with medical, nursing, radiology, colorectal, urology, pain, fertility, administrative and other colleagues; to communicate openly and respectfully; to support the development of others; and to take shared responsibility for delivering and continually improving a high-quality endometriosis service.

This post exists to provide and develop a high-quality specialist endometriosis service. Its clinical, surgical, multidisciplinary and service-development focus is endometriosis rather than general gynaecology.
