SEND Learning & Teaching Assistant

Ormiston Victory Academy is seeking an experienced Learning and Teaching Assistant to work specifically with Key Stage 3 students who struggle to engage with their education. The successful applicant will work with students to eliminate any barriers to their academic progress, earning and maintaining the respect of students and setting clear guidelines.

• Work with KS3 students to support academic progress and engagement.
• Establish and maintain respectful relationships with students.
• Set clear guidelines and provide 1:1 intervention, small group social communication and interactive interventions.
• Collaborate effectively with other key staff.
• Attend training and meetings as required.

• Previous experience working with young people with special educational needs in an educational setting.
• The relevant skills to deliver 1:1 intervention, small group social communication and interactive interventions.
• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a related area, or willingness to undertake training.

All successful appointments will be subject to suitability checks in accordance with KCSIE, including identity, Right to Work, qualifications, online searches, prohibition check, two references and enhanced DBS check including Children’s Barred List.
