SEMH Teaching Assistant

About the role:

Justteachers is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Norwich to recruit a caring and dedicated SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant. This is a full-time, long-term position with a September start.

The successful candidate will provide one-to-one support for a pupil with additional needs, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and thrive within the classroom environment. The school is committed to inclusion and creating a nurturing atmosphere where every child is supported to reach their full potential.

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN within the classroom
• Support the pupil’s academic, social, and emotional development
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support strategies
• Adapt learning activities to meet the individual needs of the pupil

• Experience working with children, ideally within a school or SEN setting
• Previous SEMH, SEN, or behaviour support experience is desirable
• A calm, patient, and resilient approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Two recent, relevant references
• Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) are desirable
