Position: Part-time Hourly Lecturer - User Experience Design

Overview

To assist us in driving our strategic and creative vision forward, the University is now seeking to appoint a Part-time Hourly Lecturer to join our Communication Design programme with teaching into both our BSc User Experience Design course, and our MA cluster of Human Centred Design courses (User Experience Design, Interaction Design and Service Design).

You will be able to demonstrate strong organisation, communication and team working skills and have professional and/or teaching experience in a related area. Ideally, you will have relevant HE level teaching experience in the UK.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and deliver on-campus and digitally taught sessions including lectures, workshops, and tutorials across all aspects of students’ learning; may involve conducting assessment.
  • Carry out administrative duties such as register taking, preparing handouts and course material, and writing tutorial notes.
  • Support students in taking creative risks and addressing global challenges; advocate for the cultural, social and economic benefit of the arts.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure high-quality teaching and alignment with programme objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience and skills in user experience design for digital products and services.
  • Good knowledge of UX and UI design principles, research methodologies and user testing, interaction design, and service design.
  • Up-to-date digital software skills relevant to this rapidly changing area.
  • Ability to support students in taking creative risks and addressing global challenges; advocate for the value of the arts.
  • Professional and/or teaching experience in a related area; ideally HE level teaching experience in the UK.
Teaching Schedule and Duration

Please note that teaching sessions are usually scheduled in 3-hour blocks from 09.30 onwards. Timetabled sessions may include one or two blocks per day.

This position is for up to 350 hours across the academic year and is to cover a period of maternity leave. There may be some opportunity for further teaching beyond the end of the period.

Compensation

Salary: £46.71 per teaching hour. This role also includes £18.25 per hour for assessment.
