Salary:
Support Staff Pay Scale D: £20,862 to £21,193 pro-rata per annum (Actual) (£25,583 - £25,989 full time/full year equivalent)

Part Time: 34.5 hours per week over 5 days

Working Weeks: 39 Weeks

A September start is preferred, subject to completed onboarding checks.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Assistant to join our committed and hardworking team at Hethersett Academy, supporting our students to achieve their full potential. You will be an inspirational practitioner who is passionate about raising achievement through motivating and inspiring pupils, and contributing to the vision and values of the school.

The ideal candidate will have British Sign Language Level 1 or above, or be willing to be trained for this qualification.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Assist with care and learning programmes and activities for pupils, including specialised support for those with SEND and EAL.
  • Support the teacher in managing pupils and the classroom and enabling access to learning for all students.
  • Promote positive pupil behaviour, manage conflicts and incidents in line with school policy, and encourage responsibility for behaviour.
  • Assist with pupil supervision outside lesson times when required.
  • Prepare, maintain and use equipment/resources for lesson plans or relevant learning activities, including supporting the use of ICT.
  • Support pupils during routine tests and external examinations when required.
About You

You will be an enthusiastic and inspiring practitioner with recent secondary education experience, eager to improve pupils’ attainment, enable access to learning (especially for those with SEND), and support effective pastoral care and the social and emotional progress of students.

Essential
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Experience of working with or caring for children of the relevant age group.
  • Knowledge of relevant policies, codes of practice and awareness of legislation.
  • Basic understanding of child development and learning.
  • Ability to evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities.
Desirable
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND.
  • First‑aid training.
  • British Sign Language Level 1 or above or willingness to be trained.
