Secondary English Teacher - Norwich & Surrounding Areas

Are you a Qualified English Teacher looking for a teaching role that works around your life, rather than the other way around? Whether you are seeking the ultimate control and variety of day-to-day supply cover, or you prefer the rewarding consistency of a long-term classroom placement, we have exceptional opportunities tailored exactly to your schedule.

We are currently partnering with an established portfolio of secondary schools, academies, and colleges throughout Norwich and the surrounding Norfolk area. We are experiencing a high demand for passionate, articulate, and inspiring English specialists (Language & Literature) who can ignite a love for reading, creative writing, and critical analysis across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with potential Key Stage 5 delivery.

Whether you are an experienced English educator looking to step away from the administrative pressures of full-time departmental leadership, or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) eager to build confidence and experience across different school cultures, we can help you find your perfect balance.

Choose Your Ideal Way of Working:
  • Day-to-Day Cover: Take complete control of your schedule. Choose exactly which days you want to work to perfectly fit around your personal commitments, writing projects, or lifestyle. It is a fantastic way to experience different school settings.

  • Long-Term Opportunities: If you prefer stability, we have fixed-term roles spanning a term or a full academic year (covering maternity, sickness, or interim gaps). This is the perfect way to truly embed yourself within an English department, guide specific year groups through key literary texts, prepare pupils for GCSEs, and see your students progress.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality, engaging English Language and English Literature lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (Key Stage 5 experience is welcomed but not essential).

  • Foster an inclusive learning environment that encourages thoughtful discussion, critical thinking, and strong written expression.

  • Adapt learning resources to support both struggling readers and high-achieving students aiming for top GCSE grades.

  • For long-term roles: plan, prepare, and mark student work, participate in departmental moderation, track pupil progress, and contribute to parent consultations.

What We Look For:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or an equivalent English teaching qualification.

  • A degree in English Literature, English Language, Creative Writing, or a closely related discipline, paired with strong UK curriculum knowledge.

  • Confident classroom management skills and the ability to keep secondary learners motivated and focused.

  • An adaptable, proactive approach, ready to hit the ground running in dynamic secondary environments.

  • A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete a new check).

Benefits of Working With Us:
  • Competitive rates of pay
, processed weekly and reflective of your experience level.

  • A dedicated local consultant with deep knowledge of the Norwich and wider Norfolk secondary education sectors.

  • A completely transparent service that works strictly around your declared availability.

  • The chance to explore different local schools, which frequently opens doors to permanent positions if that is your ultimate goal.
