About the role:
We are working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive Primary school on the outskirts of Norwich, who are seeking a caring and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full time, long-term supply basis, starting September.
This school prides itselfon creating an inclusive environment where every child is supported to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will provide 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with Global Developmental Delay (GDD), helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and make positive progress both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with Global Developmental Delay (GDD)
- Support the pupil's learning, communication, and social development throughout the school day
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised support strategies
- Adapt learning activities to meet the individual needs of the pupil
- Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and independence
- Support the pupil during classroom activities, transitions, and playtimes where required
- Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil and their family
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and SEN professionals
- Contribute to creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment
Pre-requisites:
- Previous experience working within a Primary school setting
- Experience supporting children with SEN, particularly Global Developmental Delay (GDD), is desirable
- A patient, caring, and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Good behaviour management and organisational skills
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- Two recent education-based references
