Mechanical Design Engineer Norwich, NorfolkWe have a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the talented team at Lintott, part of Galliford Try. In this role, you'll play a key part in creating, developing, and overseeing the design of mechanical assemblies for our innovative Treatment System products.
What you will be doing:- Reviewing mechanical elements of specifications, tenders, and project requirements, developing technically robust and value‑engineered solutions.
- Producing high‑quality CAD models, drawing packs, design documentation, calculations, and technical reports that support efficient project delivery and uphold our service excellence.
- Designing a wide variety of components including GRP water treatment kiosks, storage tanks, pump cabinets, pipework systems, and structural frameworks.
- Applying Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DfMA) and value‑engineering principles throughout your work without compromising standards or requirements.
- Procuring materials and obtaining quotes for bespoke components and producing precise Bills of Materials.
- Researching design solutions, estimating costs and timescales, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Collaborating regularly with customers, clients, contractors, the Project Manager, and wider design team, communicating any issues promptly and professionally.
- Attending site meetings where required and representing our culture and values.
- Conducting product testing and evaluation, and recording, analysing, and interpreting test data where applicable.
We’re looking for someone who is passionate, proactive, and technically skilled, with:
- Solid experience using Autodesk Inventor/Inventor Professional.
- Proven, demonstrable experience in a mechanical design environment.
- Knowledge of the Water Industry.
- An understanding of electrical wiring regulations and the Machinery Directive.
- A minimum of HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering or scientific discipline.
- Familiarity with Change Management, Kaizen, or Organisational Excellence principles.
