Job Description & How to Apply Below
A fast-growing technology company in the energy and power-electronics sector is seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to take technical ownership of high-power converter development. This role offers the opportunity to design, influence, and scale next-generation power-electronics products that are moving rapidly from concept to real-world deployment.
You’ll operate with a high degree of autonomy in a collaborative, fast-paced environment where innovation, pragmatism, and continuous improvement are central to how products are delivered. This is a hands‑on role with genuine impact on architecture, roadmap decisions, and engineering culture.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the end‑to‑end design of scalable high‑power DC/DC converters (typically 2–10 kW+), from initial architecture through production release
- Define and integrate control, sensing, communications, and thermal strategies to achieve high performance, efficiency, and reliability
- Conduct feasibility studies and concept evaluations that inform product direction and long‑term roadmap decisions
- Work closely with mechanical, firmware, manufacturing, and systems engineers to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions
- Apply DFMEA/PFMEA methodologies to support high-volume, high-quality production
- Develop and execute verification & validation (V&V) plans, enabling rapid learning cycles and iterative improvement
- Lead EMC and regulatory compliance activities, collaborating with test houses and external partners as required
- Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes, delivery, and technical standards
- Mentor and influence other engineers, contributing to the growth of a high-performing power-electronics team
- Degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering (Chartered status or progress toward it is advantageous)
- Proven experience designing high‑power buck/boost DC/DC converters for real‑world applications
- Understanding of energy‑storage systems, such as Li‑ion or lead‑acid batteries
- Strong analogue design fundamentals, including signal conditioning and measurement
- Proficiency with power-electronics simulation and design tools (e.g. Matlab/Simulink, Simetrix) and PCB design tools (e.g. Altium or equivalent)
- Experience working through New Product Introduction (NPI) phases, including PDR, CDR, FAI, and V&V
- Solid multidisciplinary awareness, particularly thermal design and mechanical integration
- Hands‑on hardware experience supporting firmware‑driven power systems
- Multi-phase converter architectures
- Advanced magnetics design
- EMC optimisation and mitigation
- Motor control or commutation
- Modern control theory or advanced control techniques
