Job Title: Site Engineer - Highways (Freelance)

Contract Duration: 12 Months
Rate: 350 per day (CIS)
Hours: 10 hours per day (Saturday working available)

We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Site Engineer to join a highways project based in Tuddenham, Norfolk. This is a long-term freelance contract opportunity offering a 12-month programme, with immediate interviews and a targeted start date of 9th March 2026.
This position is strictly freelance (CIS) and is not available on a permanent or PAYE basis.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering drainage and infrastructure works, ensuring all site engineering duties are carried out accurately, safely, and in line with project specifications.

• Setting out for highways works including drainage, kerbing, earthworks and associated infrastructure
• Managing and overseeing drainage installations to specification
• Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with drawings, ITPs and RAMS
• Quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) documentation
• As-built surveys and records
• Liaising with site management, subcontractors and design teams
• Ensuring health & safety compliance on site
• Supporting site supervisors and project management with daily engineering duties

• Proven experience as a Site Engineer on highways projects
• Strong drainage and setting out experience (essential)
• CSCS Gold Card (essential)
• SSSTS or SMSTS (essential)
• Ability to work 10-hour shifts with optional Saturday work
• Strong understanding of highways specifications and standards
• Own setting out equipment preferred (advantageous)

• 350 per day (CIS) - Freelance only
