Senior Hardware Engineer – Power Electronics | Norwich

This is an opportunity to join an innovative engineering company developing next-generation electric drive systems.

You will play a key role in the design and development of high-power electronics across DC-DC converters, traction inverters and battery charging systems, helping take products from concept through to full production release.

Responsibilities
  • Designing power electronics hardware including DC-DC converters, inverter systems and associated control/sensing circuitry.
  • Supporting hardware development through schematic capture, PCB layout, prototype build, validation and production release.
  • Driving robust, manufacturable designs through DFM, FMEA, tolerance analysis and production-focused development methods.
  • Collaborating with embedded software, controls, manufacturing and validation teams across the full product lifecycle.
  • Supporting debugging, EMC evaluation, root cause analysis and production issue resolution.
Requirements
  • Strong experience in power electronics hardware design within automotive, electrification, industrial or motor sport environments.
  • Experience designing high-power systems such as traction inverters, battery chargers or switching converters.
  • Strong understanding of power electronics topologies, analogue design and embedded control hardware.
  • Experience with PCB design considerations for EMC, thermal management and manufacturability.
  • Familiarity with simulation and ECAD tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice or Altium Designer.
Bonus Skills
  • Experience supporting products through pilot build and production release.
  • Knowledge of production test systems, supplier quality and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with embedded systems, firmware interaction or control systems integration.
