To support our existing customers and our ambitions for growth, we are looking for an Engineering Technician to join our team.

As an Engineering Technician you will provide hands-on, practical support across testing, prototyping, equipment and facilities, and documentation. Responsibilities

Testing and Verification Support
  • Set up, run and monitor tests on devices, components and sub-assemblies, following defined test protocols and methods.
  • Accurately record, log and report test results and data, escalating any anomalies or out-of-specification results to the engineering team.
  • Build, set up, maintain and look after test rigs and test equipment so they are ready and reliable for use.
  • Support the preparation and execution of design verification and validation (V&V) activities, including sample preparation and test readiness.
Equipment and Facilities Maintenance
  • Carry out regular equipment and safety checks and routine planned maintenance to keep equipment safe and serviceable.
  • Maintain calibration records and schedules, ensuring equipment is calibrated and within date, and coordinate external calibration where required.
  • Coordinate equipment repairs and servicing with internal staff and external suppliers, keeping downtime to a minimum.
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanroom and wider facilities, including environmental checks, housekeeping and reporting of any issues.
R&D build & prototyping support
  • Assemble test rigs, prototypes and sub-assemblies to support design and development activities.
  • Build, solder and rework printed circuit boards (PCBs) and carry out parts fabrication to support prototype and test builds.
Documentation & ISO 13485 compliance
  • Carry out goods-in and goods-out activities and maintain accurate records in line with the company QMS procedures.

  • Provide day-to-day, hands-on engineering support that frees up engineers to focus on design and development work.
  • Manage and maintain stock of parts, components and consumables, monitoring levels, reordering as needed and keeping accurate inventory records.
  • Source and order components, consumables and workshop materials in accordance with company purchasing procedures.
  • Support engineering builds, pilot manufacture and design transfer activities, ensuring build documentation and traceability are maintained.
  • Support risk assessments, COSHH compliance and safe working practices within workshop and laboratory areas.
Skills and Personal Qualities
  • A practical, hands-on approach with good manual dexterity and the ability to build, assemble and rework prototypes, test rigs and electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Basic CAD literacy — able to view and interpret 3D models and prepare files for 3D printing. This is a desirable skill but not essential. Training would be given.
  • Confident soldering and PCB build / rework skills, with experience using common workshop, electronics and test equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when recording test data, completing documentation and maintaining records.
  • Well organised and methodical, able to manage stock, calibration schedules and maintenance activities and keep clear, traceable records.
  • Able to read, interpret and work from engineering drawings, work instructions and test protocols.
