We're partnering with a well-established, design-led engineering consultancy based in Norwich, recognised for its technical excellence, collaborative culture and innovative approach to engineering.
With a growing portfolio of major projects across the residential, retail, logistics and technology sectors, they are continuing to expand their civil engineering capabilities and are now looking to appoint a Principal / Associate Civil Engineer to play a senior role within the business.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced civil engineer who is looking to take greater ownership of projects, build strong client relationships and have a genuine influence on the direction and development of a growing team.
You'll be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from early-stage feasibility and due diligence through to detailed design and delivery, while also providing technical leadership and supporting the continued development of the civil engineering team.
The Role
Lead and oversee the delivery of complex civil infrastructure projects across the UK and Europe
Provide technical leadership across highways, drainage, flood risk, utilities and infrastructure design
Take responsibility for the quality, programme and commercial performance of projects
Act as a key point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong working relationships
Lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate effectively with other engineering disciplines
Review and approve technical reports, drawings, specifications and detailed design packages
Provide technical guidance, mentoring and support to engineers across the team
Take an active role in project planning, programming, resourcing and fee management
Contribute to bids, fee proposals and business development opportunities
Identify opportunities to develop existing client relationships and generate new work
Support the continued growth and development of the civil engineering team
Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with relevant standards, regulations and best practice
Represent the business at client meetings, project meetings and industry events where appropriate
What We're Looking For
Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
Significant experience within a civil infrastructure design consultancy
Strong technical knowledge across highways, drainage, flood risk and infrastructure design
Experience leading projects and providing technical direction to other engineers
Strong understanding of the commercial and contractual aspects of consultancy projects
Proven experience managing client relationships and working with multidisciplinary teams
Experience with Civil 3D, Micro Drainage, AutoCAD and BIM workflows
Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or equivalent professional qualification
Excellent communication, report writing and presentation skills
Commercially aware with the ability to identify opportunities and contribute to business development
Confident managing your own workload while providing leadership and support to others
Experience in Flood Risk Assessments, drainage strategies and due diligence
Familiarity with Eurocodes and international project stages such as RIBA/HOAI would be advantageous
Willingness to travel occasionally across Europe
