Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Engineering Manager
to work with Energy on Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone

Overall responsibility for the engineering function (engineering, design management, quality assurance and control, document control) both on and off site for the business unit, including the day to day management of all engineering activities. Responsibility for the implementation of the Better Engineered programme driver as part of the 10-year plan. Serves as a key point of contact for the function internally and externally.

A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Engineering Manager

  • Implement and promote the Better Engineered objective within the business unit.
  • Lead engagement with internal and external designers along with specialist supply chain partners.
  • Form project delivery strategies with regards to design engineering.
  • Ensure the implementation of Group Design Management Policy and Procedural requirements.
  • Lead the identification of technical risks and ensure implementation of mitigations measures on all projects.
  • Ensure key external project asset stakeholders technical governance/assurance processes are aligned and implemented.
  • Drive Value Engineering and Innovation that brings value in time, cost, safety, or carbon including driving design standardisation.
  • Influence and review design solutions in their area of expertise.
  • Ensuring Operational, SHES and Quality input into design development to drive appropriate consideration of temporary works and methodologies.
  • Promote and lead engineering innovation and GIS/BIM and Digital Field tool solutions for project delivery and handover.
  • Manage and actively pursue performance improvement of the engineering capability and function. assisting in establishing and implementing best practice policies and procedures for the function.
  • Take a proactive role in the management of careers and the learning & development of all engineering staff, including carrying out personal development reviews.
  • Enable the business unit in work winning as the technical leader in bids, with the application of engineering, design management and quality.
  • Enable the commercial and procurement teams in accurate scope definition and in contractual matters with both suppliers and the client.
  • Manage the recruitment of engineers and design managers to support the business requirements
  • Ensure Quality benchmarks are maintained at a high standard.
  • Establish and promote best practice in health, safety and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHESQ department.

    Substations, HV Cable , Transmission or other heavy civil engineering
  • Strong technical capability and leadership skills and knowledge of working in BIM

  • Ability to prioritise objectives and capable of completing work to deadlines and the ability to influence, and the integrity to develop trust and respect
