What we do:
At Yorkshire Water, we deliver and maintain the infrastructure that provides clean drinking water and wastewater services to millions of customers across Yorkshire. As part of our Capital Programme and Construction Assurance Team, our Inspectors play a critical role in ensuring new assets are delivered safely, compliantly and to the required engineering standards. Working across major investment programmes, Inspectors provide independent technical assurance throughout construction, helping to ensure assets are built in accordance with approved designs, specifications, regulatory requirements and industry standards.
The opportunity We are recruiting several Inspectors and are keen to hear from experienced professionals across multiple engineering disciplines, including:
Civil Engineering Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Rather than recruiting separate discipline-specific vacancies, we are seeking experienced engineering professionals who can bring specialist technical expertise whilst working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary inspection and assurance environment. You will undertake field-based inspections across Yorkshire Water's capital programme, helping to drive quality, compliance, safety and continuous improvement across our delivery partners and supply chain.
Where you fit in As an Inspector , you will:
Attend construction sites across Yorkshire as part of a multidisciplinary technical inspection team. Review construction and installation activities against approved designs, Yorkshire Water engineering specifications, contractual requirements and relevant legislation. Identify, record and communicate non-compliances to delivery partners and engineering teams. Support the resolution of technical quality issues and drive improved construction performance. Monitor and record partner performance across the capital programme.
Support engineering assurance activities through inspections, testing and quality reviews. Provide technical engineering feedback and lessons learned to Engineering Design, Construction Assurance and Project Management teams. Contribute to the development and implementation of engineering best practice. Attend engineering forums and assurance meetings to share knowledge and promote continuous improvement. Liaise with suppliers, contractors, project teams and operational stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
Champion health, safety, quality and risk management throughout all site activities. Discipline-specific expertise Depending on your area of specialism, you may undertake inspections relating to:
