Assistant Property Accountant

We are looking for an Assistant Property Accountant to join our Property Accounting team within Financial Management in Norwich. You will be responsible for reporting and maintaining financial controls, producing insightful reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations, and collaborating with finance teams and surveyors.

What this job involves Reporting and

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting financial operations and reporting requirements, including Trial Balance and VAT reports.
  • Assisting with creation and delivery of ad hoc reporting to internal and external stakeholders, such as surveyors and solicitors.
  • Reviewing and reconciling tenant and landlord direct recoveries.
  • Supporting financial operations relating to the mobilisation and demobilisation of property transactions.
  • Responding to day‑to‑day queries from clients and occupiers.
  • Performing general accounting and administrative duties to support the property portfolio.
  • Assisting Property Accountants and Senior Property Accountants in service delivery across the team portfolio.
Maintain Financial Controls
  • Assisting in monitoring key performance indicators on the client portfolio and taking ownership for timely resolution of any issue.
  • Completing control account reconciliations and monitoring funding levels accurately and promptly.
  • Effectively managing risk by complying with company, accounting, and legislative procedures and controls, identifying problem areas and escalating issues promptly.
  • Performing other controls as governed by our accredited control framework.
Engagement with Stakeholders & Wider Teams
  • Acting as a point of contact for specific clients for the day‑to‑day running of the property portfolio.
  • Liaising with and supporting surveyors, JBS (JLL Business Services) finance teams and other stakeholders on the portfolio, acting on requests and providing information in a timely manner.
  • Attending internal and external meetings as required.
  • Ensuring strong communication links and working relationships with Property Accounting management, Accounts Receivable, Treasury & Control, Surveying, and other internal stakeholders.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Strong Excel skills (including pivot tables, V‑Lookups, X‑Lookups, and other formulae).
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure, multitask, and prioritise effectively.
  • Organised, with attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to use own initiative to resolve day‑to‑day issues.
  • AAT Level 3 qualified or equivalent, with aspirations for further study.
  • Knowledge of client systems (Yardi, MRI, Horizon) would be advantageous.
