An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pensions Officer to join our Payroll and Pensioner Services Team at Norfolk Pension Fund. You will play an important role in delivering a high-quality service to members of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), ensuring pension payments and benefits are processed accurately, efficiently and in accordance with statutory requirements.
Norfolk Pension Fund administers the LGPS for over 436 employers and around 100,000 members and beneficiaries, managing assets worth more than £6 billion.
You will be a key member of the Payroll and Pensioner Services Team, supporting scheme members, pensioners and colleagues through accurate pension processing, effective case management and excellent customer service.
AboutThe Role
As a Pensions Officer, you will:
- Support the day-to-day delivery of pension payroll services for over 28,500 pensioner, spouse and dependant pension payments.
- Ensure casework is completed accurately and within agreed timescales, in line with LGPS regulations, HMRC requirements, performance standards and best practice.
- Calculate and process death benefits, including spouse's, partner's and children's pensions.
- Run intermediate payroll processes and associated checks.
- Calculate balances and over payments relating to deceased members.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has good numeracy, literacy and problem-solving skills.
- Holds GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
- Has experience in a customer-focused service delivery, payroll, pensions, or business support role.
- Has good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Delivers excellent customer service with accuracy and attention to detail.
Experience in payroll or pensions case management, or customer service delivery would be advantageous but is not essential.
