We're looking for a Conservation and Tree Officer to help protect, manage and enhance the councils' tree and landscape assets. This role is central to ensuring trees, hedges and wider natural features are considered, safeguarded and managed in line with legislation and best practice.

Our districts have a varied geography and a substantial number of protected trees. You will deal with all tree‑related matters, including assessing trees for protection, processing applications and appeals, and providing specialist advice and guidance to planning officers, enforcement teams, the public and councillors.

We have an ambitious growth and development agenda and take pride in protecting our environment while also promoting sustainable housing for the future. We are therefore looking for someone who can work closely with the Development Management team to ensure that important trees are appropriately protected and accommodated within developments.

Responsibilities
  • Assess trees for protection, process applications and appeals.
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance to planning officers, enforcement teams, the public, and councillors.
  • Work closely with the Development Management team to ensure appropriate protection and accommodation of important trees within developments.
About You
  • Experience with in a tree and conservation role, ideally>

    Professional qualification in Tree/Landscape Management from a recognised body, or a national diploma in forestry or arboriculture, or an equivalent level 3 qualification in arboriculture.

You should be able to work on your own initiative, be a strong team player and demonstrate passion and commitment to protecting trees, landscapes and the environment.
