Temporary/Ongoing About the Role We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Waste Contracts & Compliance Officer to join a busy Contracts & Compliance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong analytical skills, contract management experience, and a background in waste, environmental services, compliance, or local government operations. Working closely with the Waste Management Officer and Principal Waste Contracts Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring waste disposal and treatment contracts are delivered efficiently, compliantly, and cost-effectively.
Key Responsibilities Support the Waste Management Officer in managing contractors in line with contractual requirements. Ensure Waste Collection Authorities have access to disposal facilities during Bank and Public Holidays. Assist with fly-tip incidents by coordinating compliant disposal routes. Support the development and implementation of cost-saving initiatives. Maintain positive working relationships with Waste Collection Authorities and contractors. Resolve operational issues including invoicing, account queries, and compliance matters.
Conduct Duty of Care visits and audits. Manage and monitor small-value environmental, waste disposal, and treatment contracts. Assist with high-value contract management and issue resolution. Produce performance reports and management information for senior stakeholders. Analyse and cleanse large datasets, creating pivot tables and reports to identify trends and opportunities. Support service development initiatives, recruitment, induction, and training activities. Provide cover and support across the team when required.
Ensure information is managed securely and in accordance with organisational policies. Promote and demonstrate a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion. About You The successful candidate will have:
Experience with in waste management, environmental services, contracts, compliance, or a similar sector. Strong analytical and reporting skills. Advanced Excel skills, including data cleansing, pivot tables, and performance reporting. Experience managing contractor relationships and contract performance. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities. Knowledge of Duty of Care legislation and compliance requirements is desirable. Experience working within local government or a regulated environment would be advantageous.
