Job overview

Are you a registered healthcare professional with a passion for improving clinical systems and patient care through technology? Join us as a Clinical Tester in our transformative Electronic Patient Record (EPR) Programme at NSFT.

This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of digital innovation in healthcare. As a Clinical Tester, you will play a vital role in ensuring the EPR system is safe, effective, and user-friendly for staff, service users, and their families. You’ll use your clinical expertise to rigorously test system functionality, workflows, and documentation, helping to shape a solution that truly meets the needs of frontline teams.
You’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary Testing Team and collaborate with clinicians across the Trust to support user acceptance testing, configuration validation, and deployment readiness. Your insights will directly influence the quality and safety of the system, and you’ll act as a clinical ambassador—promoting engagement, adoption, and continuous improvement.

This role offers a rewarding blend of clinical knowledge, digital transformation, and collaborative working. If you’re motivated by making a meaningful impact and enjoy problem-solving in a dynamic environment, we’d love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job
  • Conduct clinical testing of all aspects of the EPR programme technology, supporting its implementation and ensuring systems are clinically and operationally fit for purpose.
  • Collaborate closely with the Testing Team (clinical and technical testers) and support End User Testers to complete testing activities in line with programme objectives.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external contacts, using clinical networks to inform configuration and testing decisions.
  • Support the engagement and coordination of internal clinicians and administrators as End User Testers.
  • Assist with User Acceptance Testing, working alongside clinical and administrative colleagues.
  • Follow the Testing Strategy and Plan for the EPR Programme and its projects/work streams, meeting all deadlines set by programme and testing management.
  • Complete all required deployment tests and support problem management to resolve defects and exceptions.
  • Contribute to post-Go-Live support as directed.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders, acting as a clinical testing champion and addressing concerns promptly.
  • Work autonomously to plan and organise workload, meeting multiple and conflicting deadlines.
  • Keep documentation fit for purpose and input data accurately into spreadsheets, Word documents, or PowerPoint presentations.
  • Act as a clinical ambassador for the Trust’s EPR Programme.
