Position: CBT therapist /Psychological Therapist

This is an exciting opportunity to join a relatively new team and growing service, which aims to help young people at risk of developing psychosis who are experiencing an at-risk mental state. The Therapeutic Interventions for Distressing unusual Experiences Service (TIDES) is a team working therapeutically with young people across Norfolk & Waveney.

We are seeking a CBT therapist or psychological therapist to join the existing team on a full or part time basis. This role will be covering a secondment for a period of 12 months . Your base will be Norwich, however you would be expected to work flexibly between bases in Norwich, Great Yarmouth, Kings Lynn, and home.

We are a supported team currently made up of clinical psychology, systemic family therapy, cognitive behavioural therapists, mental health practitioners, support workers and a vocational worker, all of whom are from a variety of professional backgrounds. Our team will be offering young people evidence-based interventions such as psycho educational work, individual CBT and family therapeutic work aimed at helping our young people and their families to manage their unusual experiences.

TIDES practitioners work with small manageable caseloads and hold an integrated approach to the care we provide. When you join us, you can expect a thorough induction and ongoing support.

Phone calls, teams calls or visits to meet the team and manager are welcomed and encouraged.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be responsible for providing a high-quality service to young people between the age of 14 and 35 years who are at at risk of developing psychosis and who are experiencing an at-risk mental state through early intervention and offering the right support at the right time.

You will use your clinical skills and experience for direct delivery of evidence-based psychological interventions. You will provide supervision and consultancy to other mental health professionals within the team and to network colleagues. You will work alongside the psychological therapies team to provide psychological containment, advice and support to the broader team and wider network. You will attend and contribute within regular meetings, such as MDT and CPA reviews.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Health or Social Care professional qualification RMN, Dip OT, Clinical Psychology, Diploma in Social Work or equivalent
  • Postgraduate diploma in CBT or CAT or family therapy or equivalent
Experience
  • Training and ability to deliver other therapeutic approaches e.g. DBT, EMDR, IPT
Knowledge
  • Awareness of NICE guidelines
  • Specialist knowledge of CAT/CBT protocols and treatments.
Other
  • Accreditation with BABCP, ACAT, HCPC, AFT, EMDR Europe or NMC
