Position Overview
Applications are invited for a substantive consultant post in respiratory medicine to join our team of fourteen NHS consultants, one Clinical Professor and two nurse consultants. This dynamic academic respiratory unit provides opportunities for sub‑specialty development, respiratory‑related research and medical education with close links to Norwich Medical School.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in the Trust's Clinical Governance programme, including clinical audit, quality assurance, guideline development, professional development, appraisal and risk management.
- Serve on the Consultant Staff Committee.
- Collaborate with consultant colleagues, sharing office space and supporting departmental management.
- Share with other respiratory consultants: on‑call duties; inpatient duties; attendance at MDT meetings; undergraduate and postgraduate teaching; clinical and educational supervision of junior doctors; departmental management duties; and support of clinical research.
The department is integrated with the department of thoracic surgery and has state‑of‑the‑art facilities for radiology, lung function testing and bronchoscopy. We conduct multi‑centred NIHR‑funded studies in interstitial lung disease, asthma and bronchiectasis, and work closely with Norwich Medical School, the Norwich Research Park and the Norwich Radiology Academy. This role offers the chance to contribute to medical student teaching and pursue personal research interests.
