Job Purpose

The post-holder is responsible for scheduling patients for chemotherapy treatment, ensuring the efficient utilisation of treatment areas, nursing staff, and radiographer resources. This role plays a key part in supporting the smooth delivery of cancer services and ensuring that patients receive timely care.

The Scheduler is also responsible for the accurate and timely entry of patient information into the Patient Administration System (PAS), following the Trust's standards for real-time data entry. The role requires meticulous attention to confidentiality and adherence to all Trust Policies and Procedures related to data quality and information governance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Scheduling and Coordination

Schedule patients for chemotherapy treatment in an efficient and timely manner.
Coordinate appointments to maximise the use of treatment areas and clinical staff resources.
Liaise with nursing teams, radiographers, and other clinical staff to ensure safe treatment flow.
Adjust schedules promptly in response to clinical changes, cancellations, or emergencies.

2. Patient Administration System (PAS)

Accurately input, update, and maintain patient information on PAS.
Follow Trust protocols for real‑time data entry to ensure records are always current.
Ensure all data is complete, accurate, and compliant with Trust data quality standards.

3. Communication and Liaison

Serve as a key point of contact for clinical teams regarding chemotherapy scheduling.
Communicate appointment details clearly to patients and staff.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support seamless service delivery.

4. Confidentiality and Information Governance

Maintain strict confidentiality at all times, handling sensitive patient information appropriately.
Adhere to all Trust Policies related to data protection, confidentiality, and information governance.
