Job DescriptionThe Environment Agency are fully committed to having an inclusive workforce to reflect the communities we serve. We don't just talk about diversity; we seek it, embrace it, and live it, for the benefit of our staff, our communities, and our environment.
We are recruiting an Advisor within our national Nutrients and Nature Recovery team to help address one of the most significant environmental challenges facing the water environment: nutrient pollution.
This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key supporting role in delivering our ambition for a balanced and sustainable nutrient system, where nutrients are appropriately valued, improving environmental quality and enabling sustainable growth.
As part of a collaborative and supportive team, working closely with colleagues across the organisation and building relationships with a diverse range of external partners, you will help drive a step change in our approach to current and emerging nutrient pollution challenges.
A key focus of the role will be leading engagement with our Area Integrated Environment Planning Specialists to support the effective implementation of Diffuse Water Pollution Plan actions. You will coordinate activity, share learning and best practice, and help these plans evolve to continue responding effectively to emerging issues.
The role also offers the opportunity to support a wider programme of work across the team, including nutrient neutrality, innovative nutrient reduction approaches, and the development of new strategies to address nutrient pollution and support nature recovery.
Key responsibilities- Drive engagement and partnership working through delivery of a nutrients engagement framework for internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage contracts and projects that enable innovative approaches to nutrient management.
- Track and report on programme delivery.
- Facilitate a national community of practice, ensuring co-ordinated implementation of Diffuse Water Pollution Plan actions, embedding them into organisational processes, and promoting knowledge sharing across teams.
You will join the Nutrients and Nature Recovery team, which is part of Team Water in the Environment and Business directorate. We are a small, friendly, dispersed team which provides strategic leadership on nutrients and has responsibility for the diffuse water pollution plan programme and growth policies relating to nutrients, such as nutrient neutrality. We meet face to face, normally quarterly, and aim to provide a supportive, inclusive culture where everyone feels valued.
