Job overviewWe are excited to offer an opportunity to join the Acute Psychology team working across wards at Hellesdon Hospital, which includes 3 female and 2 male adult acute wards, and female Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit. Applications from new qualified psychologists looking to complete their preceptorship from band 7 to 8a are welcomed.
The role involves close working with the wider multi-disciplinary team, promoting the use of psychological models and encouraging psychological thinking for the ward staff and the leadership team. Given the nature of the wards, work will often be focussed on assessment and formulation, with consideration for what would support discharge for the patient. Opportunities for extended pieces of work will also be available, in order to support your ongoing development.
We are a friendly, welcoming and supportive psychology team including a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, 2 Assistant Psychologists, Psychotherapists and Clinical and Counselling Psychologists. We come with a range of specialist interests and therapy expertise and have strong links to the UEA doctorate course.
Main duties of the job- Completing assessments/formulations with the client to support their understanding of their mental health, guide ward staff in their support of the client, and inform discharge planning.
- Completing brief and extended psychological interventions using evidence based models.
- Working closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team to support trauma-informed, psychological thinking and promotion of risk formulation/safety planning to inform the team's intervention and discharge plans.
- Supervision of trainee psychologists, and assistant psychologists where appropriate.
- Offering regular reflective practice and team formulations to the wider teams as well as training on a range of relevant topics.
- Working on relevant research projects, audits, data analysis and trust related wider projects that help support and promote national initiatives and priorities in the delivery of inpatient care.
