Position: HR Adviser - People Policy Governance

HR Adviser – People Policy Governance

Fixed Term Contract / Secondment until 31 March 2028, 37 hours per week, £37,280 to £39,152 per annum (Scale I), County Hall.

We are looking for a Human Resources (HR) Adviser to join our People Policy Governance team. The role supports the development and implementation of our HR employment framework, covering policy development and reward management.

Responsibilities include:

  • Policy development and implementation.
  • Support for pay and recognition strategy.
  • Equality Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) strategies.
  • Project work and other related HR activities.
  • Providing expert advice to managers, employees, and HR and payroll colleagues.
  • Research and act on findings, cost options, draft reports and policy documents.
  • Checking records for accuracy and ensuring correct processing and recording.
  • Auditing and supporting discussions and consultations with Trade Unions.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Experience in policy development, project management, reward and recognition.
  • Up‑to‑date employment law knowledge and understanding of employment terms and conditions.
  • Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development level 5 or above, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication skills – persuasive, clear, concise.
  • Ability to lead discussions and consultations with Trade Unions.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel) and ability to write reports, update spreadsheets, and draft policy documents.
  • Experience in research and drafting reports, policy documents, and recommendations.
