Overview
The key function of the role is to support NHS Property Services in delivering building services maintenance and repairs across the NHS, to ensure buildings are maintained to the highest standards and to provide a safe and secure environment for visitors, customers, and employees.
Main duties of the jobEnsure compliance in accordance with all NHSPS Health, Safety & Wellbeing Policies, relevant NHSPS Technical Guidance, Process and Procedures, Statutory Regulations, Approved Codes of Practice and any applicable aspects of HTMs. Ensure that new or revised practice and policies are implemented within own work areas. Deliver Scheduled, Reactive and Remedial maintenance services as directed by the PPM planner (CAFM), helpdesk or Technical Services Supervisor, ensuring that operational standards are maintained at all times.
Duties may include (but not limited to) fault finding, minor repairs or installations and maintaining services and equipment within critical environments. You may be required to undertake tasks in disciplines other than your own. Ability to assess problems to determine the best course of action, this would include complex technical issues and be able to communicate technical and/or complex information to various stakeholders.
To maintain effective site log books at all NHS premises where required, ensuring that they are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

You will play a key role in delivering planned and reactive maintenance across a portfolio of healthcare properties.
Based from Magna Medical Centre (Norwich), you will cover a regional patch across Norfolk, Suffolk and Southern Cambridgeshire. Your core focus will be electrical maintenance, including emergency lighting testing, general electrical repairs and small works, ensuring all assets remain safe, compliant and fully operational. You will also be expected to respond to a range of maintenance issues, making safe and supporting wider estates activities where required to meet service level agreements.
This is a mobile role, with a company van and tools provided, and includes participation in an on‑call rota (approx. 1 in
5).
Who you are
- You are a qualified and reliable electrician who takes pride in delivering a high standard of work.
- You are adaptable, practical and comfortable working across multiple sites, often independently.
- You bring a proactive approach, strong problem‑solving skills and a willingness to support beyond your core trade when needed to ensure services are maintained safely and efficiently.
- Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive electrical works across multiple NHS sites.
- Carry out emergency lighting testing, inspections and repairs.
- Undertake electrical fault finding, repairs and minor installation works.
- Respond to maintenance requests and make safe issues in line with SLAs.
