You will work closely across commissioning, brokerage, finance, and operational teams to ensure contract activity supports both day-to-day delivery and wider strategic priorities. The role also offers the opportunity to help prepare for upcoming changes linked to Local Government Reorganisation (LGR), ensuring processes and governance are robust and future-ready. Alongside leading a team of Contract Officers, you will play a key role in improving contract management practices, supporting value for money, and ensuring services for Gloucestershire residents are effectively delivered.
Key Responsibilities Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of Contracts Team activity Maintain a strong focus on provider contractual compliance in line with the Contract Management Framework Ensure contract activity is accurately recorded and managed across key systems Support the team in managing operational queries, risks, and escalated provider or contract issues Undertake line management responsibilities, including supervision and 1:1s and team meetings Ensure governance, assurance, and reporting arrangements are consistently applied Triage and coordinate complex issues, working across commissioning, brokerage, operational, and finance teams Support performance monitoring and reporting, ensuring data quality and system alignment Build and maintain effective relationships with providers and key stakeholders Identify and implement improvements to contract management processes, systems use, and compliance You will ideally bring:
Strong experience in contract management, commissioning, or provider oversight A sound understanding of Contract Management Frameworks, compliance, and governance Experience working with contract management and commissioning systems
Experience of leading teams and providing line management support The ability to manage competing priorities and respond effectively under pressure Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills A proactive, solutions-focused approach and ability to drive improvement This is a full time role on a temporary contract basis.
