Job description

Job Role &Key Responsibilities
As a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer, youll support site reliability within a highly automated manufacturing environment. Working as part of a shift-based engineering team, youll deliver planned and reactive maintenance to ensure equipment performance, safety, and minimal downtime. This is a hands‑on role for an engineer who thrives under pressure and enjoys solving real‑world problems at pace.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on automated production and processing equipment
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults efficiently
- Fault‑find on PLC‑controlled systems
- Complete electrical installation, testing, and repair work
- Maintain and repair mechanical systems including pneumatics and automation
- Test and commission machinery following repairs or modifications
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and small engineering projects
- Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime
- Adhere to health, safety, and housekeeping standards, including permit‑to‑work systems
- Strong multi‑skilled engineering capability (electrical and mechanical)
- Experience with in FMCG, food manufacturing, or automated production environments
- Proven PLC fault‑finding experience
- A proactive, problem‑solving mindset
- Ability to prioritise and work effectively in a fast‑paced setting
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Experience with highly automated plant equipment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Continuous improvement or project support experience Benefits Include
