Workshop Mechanical Assembly Operative

Location:

North West of Norwich City Centre

Salary and Hours

Pay range: £13.53 – £13.84 per hour, based on a 40‑hour week. Overtime is available at an enhanced rate and is reviewed after the probation period.

Working hours:

7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday to Friday with occasional Saturday mornings on a rota basis. Employees may be required to work extended hours, especially during the winter peak (December–March).

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Assist with or complete the construction, production and assembly of company products using a variety of hand or power tools, while complying with all safe‑practice procedures.
  • Fabricate and assemble sub‑assemblies with sufficient lead time to enable timely completion of sales orders.
  • Liaise with the Workshop Manager to implement work schedules that ensure all orders are met on time.
  • Maintain a high standard of quality production, continuously improving processes and reporting any problems or potential problems to the Workshop Manager.
  • Train to perform the maximum range of tasks within the workshop department.
  • Comply with all Health and Safety procedures, raising any concerns promptly.
  • Use all defined personal protective equipment and ensure safe usage of hand‑held tools such as routers and grinders.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Good engineering aptitude and a practical, hands‑on approach.
  • Experience using hand tools; experience with power tools is desirable.
  • Experience working from technical drawings is an advantage.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, with ability to work extended or weekend hours as required.
