Production Manager - Electrical Manufacturing
Norwich, Norfolk | £50,000–£60,000 DOE
Our client, a fast-growing specialist in electrical engineering is seeking an experienced Production Manager to take ownership of manufacturing operations due to sustained growth.
The OpportunityThis is a hands-on leadership position for an experienced manufacturing leader with a background in panel building or electrical engineering. You'll take full responsibility for production output, quality and safety, working across multiple live projects.
You'll manage everything from production planning and resourcing through to final inspection and Factory Acceptance Testing, while building a culture of continuous improvement across the shop floor.
What You'll Be Doing- Managing the production department day-to-day, including wiremen, fitters, fabricators and supervisors
- Planning and scheduling manufacturing activity against customer delivery dates
- Reviewing drawings, BOMs and manufacturing packs ahead of production release
- Coordinating with Engineering, Procurement, Stores and Commissioning to keep projects moving
- Supporting Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs)
- Rolling out Lean Manufacturing, 5S and other continuous improvement initiatives
- Setting and tracking KPIs
- Recruiting, mentoring and developing production staff
- Managing performance reviews, training plans and supplier relationships
- Owning safety and housekeeping standards across the facility
- Proven track record managing production within electrical manufacturing - panels, switch gear or LV/HV assemblies
- Experience leading a team through a full manufacturing process
- Confidence reading electrical drawings and technical documentation
- Strong scheduling and planning experience
- Comfortable and adept at managing costs and production budgets
- Natural leadership and communication skills, with ability to problem solve
- Background with Protection & Control Panels, Relay Panels, LV Switchboards, HV Switchgear
- Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and commissioning experience
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma exposure
- Experience developing apprentices
- £50,000–£60,000 depending on experience
