The postholder will provide statistical support across the Institute’s research areas, including study design, data analysis, interpretation of findings and communication of statistical methods and results.

The role will involve working with scientists, students and other methods specialists to support a broad range of research, including laboratory studies, human studies, epidemiology, genomics and other data-intensive areas of research.

The post also provides opportunities to contribute to statistical training and continuing professional development for staff and students, research quality and integrity activities, commercial or translational projects, outreach, and knowledge exchange.

The role will suit a statistician with a strong foundation in applied statistical methods, good communication skills, curiosity about biological research, experience in a multidisciplinary environment and the willingness and ability to identify and learn new methods as needed.

The post-holder will work collaboratively with scientific and related staff from across the institute at all levels, supporting research teams in developing, delivering and reporting on their projects.

They may work with graduate students across NBI in a teaching, mentoring or supervisory role, and within institute committees.

There is also the possibility for working with collaborators from outside the institute, and with clients of QIB Extra or other commercial partners.

• Statistical support for research projects. Work with scientific staff and students to develop research questions, contribute to study and experimental design, analyse data, interpret findings and communicate results. This may include support for laboratory experiments, human or pre-clinical studies, epidemiology, genomics and other data-intensive research areas. Contribute to reproducible analysis workflows, manuscripts, study protocols and statistical analysis plans. Maintain and develop statistical expertise through continuing professional development, engagement with current methodological developments and horizon scanning across relevant areas of applied statistics.
• 70 Institute activities, research quality and knowledge exchange. Contribute to relevant Institute activities, including committee work, contributions to policy documents and outreach.
• 15 Statistical education and professional development. Contribute to the development and delivery of statistical training for staff and students.

Requirement Importance Master’s degree, or equivalent experience, in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, data science, applied mathematics or another highly quantitative discipline with a strong statistical component Essential PhD, or equivalent research experience, in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, quantitative biology or another area relevant to QIB research Desirable
