About the Role

We are seeking an ambitious and proactive Senior Legal Cashier to join our close‑knit, friendly accounts team in Norwich. The Senior Legal Cashier will carry out the tasks of a Legal Cashier and, in addition, undertake the responsibilities expected of a Senior Legal Cashier as outlined below. This is a full‑time, office‑based role, and we understand that flexibility is essential for a good work‑life balance.

Responsibilities
  • Support and answer queries from junior legal cashiers, escalating to the Senior Accounts Manager when necessary.
  • Assist with the management of the client balances monitor, ensuring prompt return of residual monies and handling annual letters.
  • Coordinate the regular checks of out‑of‑date cheques, stopping and re‑issuing where required.
  • Monitor the suspense account and clear it as quickly as possible.
  • Assist with the control of clearing down bank reconciliations, including investigating anomalies.
  • Support month‑end processes.
  • Help train new members of the cashiering team.
  • Deal with specific invoices.
  • Ensure end‑of‑day reports are produced daily.
  • Cover the responsibilities of the individual legal cashiers during periods of holiday or absence to keep all areas of work up to date.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties to support the Senior Accounts Manager as required.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of client accounting systems, including reconciliation to bank accounts.
  • Desirable: knowledge of SRA rules and regulations relating to client accounts.
  • Calm under pressure, a team player, and flexible and adaptable to changing workloads.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Motivated, proactive, and highly organised, with good attention to detail.
  • Excellent time‑management skills.
  • Friendly, confident, polite, and customer‑service orientated.
