Are you an experienced practitioner passionate about supporting women experiencing homelessness, domestic abuse, sexual violence, exploitation and multiple disadvantages?
We are currently recruiting on behalf of an award-winning specialist women and girls organisation for a Women’s Services Senior Practitioner – Outreach to join their dedicated team in Norwich.
This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced professional to make a real difference to women who may be hidden homeless, rough sleeping or facing significant barriers to accessing safe and secure accommodation.
About the role
Working as part of a specialist women's outreach service, you will provide trauma-informed and gender-informed support to women experiencing homelessness and multiple disadvantages.
You will work closely with women who may be experiencing:
Homelessness and rough sleeping
Domestic abuse and sexual violence
Exploitation
Poor mental health
Substance misuse
Social isolation
Complex or multiple disadvantages
A key part of the role will be building trusted, positive relationships with women and supporting them to identify routes out of homelessness, access appropriate services and maintain safe and secure accommodation.
You will work collaboratively with a wide range of agencies and professionals to ensure that each woman's individual needs are understood and appropriately supported.
As a Senior Practitioner, you will:
Provide high-quality, trauma-informed outreach support
Build trusting and professional relationships with women experiencing multiple disadvantages
Support women to access and maintain safe and secure accommodation
Coordinate effective referrals and pathways into appropriate services
Work closely with partner agencies and professionals
Provide case management and oversight to ensure appropriate support is in place
Support other practitioners with casework, advocacy and professional decision-making
Ensure professional boundaries and practices are proportionate to identified risks and individual needs
Advocate effectively for women and ensure their voices and needs are heard
Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns
Oversee safeguarding reporting and contribute to safeguarding reviews and learning
Support safeguarding training and learning within the service
Promote equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility across the service
Safeguarding & professional responsibility
Safeguarding will be a key responsibility within this position.
You will undertake training to become a Designated Safeguarding Officer and will take responsibility for managing safeguarding concerns, ensuring appropriate reporting and supporting the wider team with safeguarding practice and learning.
You will need to demonstrate sound professional judgement and the ability to assess risk while maintaining a compassionate, person-centred approach.
About you
We are looking for an experienced practitioner who is confident working with women experiencing complex needs and who understands the impact of trauma, abuse, exploitation and homelessness.
You will ideally have experience within areas such as:
Homelessness and housing
Women's services
Domestic abuse
Sexual violence
Substance misuse
Mental health
Complex needs
Outreach or community-based support
Safeguarding
You will be confident working independently while also providing guidance and support to colleagues.
Most importantly, you will be compassionate, resilient, non-judgemental and committed to empowering women to make positive changes in their lives.
You should also have a strong understanding of the barriers that can prevent people accessing services, including language, disability, racism, sexuality, gender, mental or physical health and substance misuse.
