Medical Assistant; MA - Rookwood Dermatology

Overview

Medical Assistant (MA) - Rookwood Dermatology at Mercy Health. The Medical Assistant provides indirect and/or direct patient care under the direction of the provider and works within the scope of practice and standards of excellence and quality. This role may perform casting duties per state regulations and appropriate certification requirements.

• Assist with patient intake and documentation of patient/family needs (chief complaint, vitals, measurements, and assessments) under the provider's direction.
• Identify significant changes in patient condition through data collection and report them to the provider.
• Participate in planning and implementing care within Medical Assisting scope; troubleshoot issues and escalate as needed.
• Administer ordered medications and/or vaccines as directed; assist with casting where permitted by state regulations and certification.
• Document in EMR accurately; manage My Chart requests and incoming patient calls; handle provider-ordered in-basket messages.
• Order supplies, track referrals, labs and diagnostic tests; dispose of contaminated supplies.
• Work schedule:
  
  8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.

• Licensing/Certification:
  Medical Assisting certification within 12 months of placement (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or A
  -OE). If MA certification not obtained, A
  -OE acceptable within same period. BLS preferred on hire, required prior to independent patient care.
• Education:
  
  High school degree; enrolled in an approved Medical Assistant program within 30 days of employment.
• Experience:
  
  Minimum one year of healthcare experience, or 24 months of clerical physician practice experience preferred.
