Semi Senior Accountant

Overview

A strong opportunity for a Semi-Senior Accountant to join a growing practice, supporting a varied portfolio of SME and owner‑managed business clients. The role offers hands‑on exposure across accounts, tax and client advisory work, ideal for someone progressing within practice.

Our client is a well‑established and expanding independent accountancy firm with a strong presence in the East Midlands. They support a broad range of SMEs, sole traders and owner‑managed businesses, providing tailored accounting, tax and advisory services. The firm offers excellent exposure to varied clients and a clear pathway for progression within a supportive and professional environment.

• Prepare accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Assist on audit assignments, supporting planning and fieldwork through to completion
• Prepare corporation tax and personal tax returns
• Support with bookkeeping and VAT returns where required
• Work closely with senior staff to ensure timely and accurate delivery of client work
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, responding to queries and providing support
• Assist in the preparation of management accounts and financial analysis
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and deadlines
• Support the development of internal processes and efficiencies
• Liaise with HMRC and other external stakeholders when required

• AAT qualified or part‑qualified ACA or ACCA
• Experience with in an accountancy practice environment
• Exposure to accounts preparation and tax work
• Some audit experience preferred but not essential
• Good understanding of UK accounting standards and compliance
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Confident communicator with a client‑focused approach
• Motivated to progress and develop within practice
