Public Accounting, Tax Accountant, Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting
Full or part-time hours considered
Are you a qualified or experienced practice accountant who enjoys the client side of your role, but would like more ownership, flexibility and autonomy?
We're working with a small, modern accountancy practice in Nottingham looking to add an experienced accountant to its team.
This isn't a highly structured practice where your next step means another layer of management or moving further away from the actual work.
The structure here is deliberately flat.
You'll work alongside a small team of credible, experienced accountants, take genuine ownership of your own client portfolio and remain hands on with the work – while building strong, direct relationships with the businesses you support.
The OpportunityYou’ll manage a varied portfolio of SME clients, taking responsibility for their accounts and ensuring deadlines and compliance requirements are met.
Day to day, that will include:
- Preparing limited company, partnership and sole trader accounts
- Preparing accounts to FRS 102 and FRS 105
- Managing your own workload and client deadlines
- Building relationships directly with clients and responding to queries
- Working collaboratively with the wider team
- VAT return preparation and filing where required
- Confirmation Statements and other Companies House filings
- Using systems including Xero, IRIS, Excel and similar accounting software
It's a hands-on position, but one with plenty of autonomy.
Rather than work being passed through several levels of review and management, you'll have the opportunity to understand your clients properly and take responsibility for delivering a great service to them.
Who we are looking forYou may be ACA or ACCA qualified and currently working within a larger practice, but looking for an environment where you can have more ownership of your clients and greater flexibility over how you work.
Equally, you might already work within an independent practice and simply be looking for a modern, grown-up environment without unnecessary hierarchy.
We're also happy to consider an experienced part-qualified accountant or AAT-qualified individual who can demonstrate the right level of practice experience and technical capability.
You’ll need:
- At least four years' relevant accountancy practice experience
- Strong accounts preparation experience across a variety of business structures
- Experience of FRS 102 and FRS 105
- Corporation tax experience
- The confidence to manage your own workload and deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail and organisation
- A proactive and reliable approach
- To enjoy working as part of a small, collaborative team
One of the biggest attractions here is flexibility.
There is a hybrid working model, with the team spending part of their working time in the Nottingham office, but flexibility is genuinely part of how the practice operates.
Part-time hours will also be considered, making this an interesting opportunity for someone who wants to continue developing their career in practice without necessarily working a traditional five day week.
You’ll be joining a small team where people are trusted to manage their responsibilities, work closely together and look after their clients without layers of hierarchy.
If you’re looking for a practice role where you can stay hands on, own your client relationships and have a little more freedom around how work fits into your life, we’d be very happy to tell you more.
