Outpatient Clinic Receptionist - Children's Burns and Plastics

We are looking for a part‑time receptionist to join our team on the Children's Burns and Plastics Dressing Clinic. The clinic provides specialised care to children and young people throughout the Midlands.

The team is friendly, diverse and welcoming. In this role you will manage reception, greet patients, and ensure all relevant administrative tasks are completed to maintain a high standard of care during outpatient visits.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing the clinic for each day
  • Greeting patients, checking personal details and updating them in patient systems as necessary while ensuring confidentiality
  • Recording clinic outcomes accurately for multiple specialties, escalating any issues requiring follow‑up bookings to the admin team
  • Responding to enquiries from relatives and external agencies in line with Trust confidentiality guidelines
  • Maintaining a tidy, safe working environment and reporting hazards or faults promptly
  • Presenting a professional, polite and courteous attitude, and dressing appropriately when on duty
  • Collecting burns data (IBID forms) daily and adding it to the departmental database
Person Specification Training and Qualifications
  • Maths & English GCSE C or above or equivalent
Experience
  • Experience of reception work
  • Ability to maintain databases
  • Ability to extract relevant information from databases for reporting purposes
  • Experience working in a busy, challenging and ever‑changing environment
Communication Skills
  • Good communication skills with both adults and children
  • Excellent telephone manner
Planning and Organisational Skills
  • Able to organise own workload
  • Flexible hours of working
  • Ability to forward‑plan and prepare documents relating to discharge data
