Operations Manager
We are looking for a driven and motivated Hygiene Team Leader to join our team and play a pivotal role in maintaining exceptional hygiene standards across our production environment. As Hygiene Team Leader, you will take ownership of hygiene operations on your shift - ensuring cleaning schedules are delivered to specification, machinery runs efficiently, and health & safety standards are upheld at all times.
You'll lead, coach, and develop a team of hygiene operatives while working closely with Production, Technical, QA, and Planning to ensure our site remains audit‑ready and operating at optimum performance. You will also formally deputise for the Hygiene Supervisor when required.
- Deliver daily, nightly, and weekly cleaning schedules in line with production planning.
- Ensure all hygiene documentation and records are accurately completed and audit compliant.
- Monitor swab trends and take timely corrective action where required.
- Complete and oversee deep cleaning schedules and verification processes.
- Manage machine downtime related to hygiene and drive continuous improvement.
- Supervise, motivate, and support hygiene team members on shift.
- Ensure all staff are fully trained and the hygiene training matrix is kept up to date.
- Promote a strong team‑working culture across all shifts.
- Provide clear direction to ensure labour is effectively coordinated to meet business demands.
- Establish strong shift handovers with clear communication of issues and actions.
- Has previous experience in hygiene leadership within food manufacturing (ideally chilled foods).
- Understands hygiene compliance, swabbing processes, and food safety standards.
- Is confident leading teams across shift patterns.
- Has strong organisational and communication skills.
- Is proactive, solutions‑focused, and detail‑oriented.
- Is comfortable using systems to generate reports and manage KPIs.
