Contract / Full-time pathway North West (Chester / Wrexham preferred) - Online/Remote possible too
MadeByAI needs a product-led operator to improve and shape products day-to-day: making strong product decisions, tightening UI/UX, and driving clarity across the backlog. This is not a traditional "developer" hire, but the person must have enough technical/coding background to accurately understand bugs and collaborate effectively with an AI-enabled development team to resolve them.
What you'll work on- Joggle Ltd products (including JAIN and Joggle)
- MadeByAI client projects (delivery-focused product improvements and build support)
Primary working interface will be Tim Olsen (MadeByAI) and Simon Grice (Joggle).
1. Product decisions and backlog ownership- Triage, prioritise, and define outcomes so work is unambiguous
- Turn messy issues into crisp tickets: what's broken, why it matters, what "done" looks like
- Raise the quality bar so the product is aesthetically strong and functionally clear
- Accurately diagnose issues at a product + technical level (reproduce, isolate, describe)
- Work closely with the AI dev team to resolve bugs using clear intent, acceptance criteria, and validation steps
- Validate fixes and prevent regressions through structured testing and edge-case thinking
- For small changes: keep momentum and clarity
- For larger features: produce an external spec (flows, rules, acceptance criteria, constraints) so development stays coherent
- Protect the agreed scope for the current version
- Prevent accidental overbuild or miscommunication to clients
- Identify ambiguities in the spec and push stakeholders to clarify what "should happen"
The ideal profile is a "structured artist": high product taste + structured thinking + broad experience building apps.
Strong product taste and care for detail; genuinely values craft and simplicity
Structured thinker who can turn ambiguity into a clear plan and clear tickets
Outcome-driven and pragmatic: can make high-quality calls quickly
Confident communicator who can push for clarity and maintain alignment
Comfortable in a small team / founder-led environment where momentum matters
Highly passionate about AI, development, and product development
Skills and experience required- Proven experience building and improving real digital products (especially apps)
- Strong backlog management: writing clear tickets and acceptance criteria
- Strong UI/UX judgement: improving flows and making products feel "right"
- Experience working close to delivery (not "strategy-only" product management)
Not a full-time engineering role, but you must be technical enough to accurately understand issues and collaborate with an AI dev team.
- Understand API behaviour (requests/responses, auth, status codes)
- Diagnose data/state issues (why UI shows the wrong data, why something "drops back", etc.)
- Write strong bug reports including: steps to reproduce, expected vs actual, environment details, impact, and acceptance criteria
Understand core software concepts well enough to make sound product calls:
- Frontend vs backend responsibilities
Good fit signal: you've coded and shipped software before (even if you're not coding daily now), and you've debugged real app issues.
LocationIdeally based in the North West, Chester / Wrexham area is a real bonus (for occasional in-person working and faster collaboration).
Engagement modelContract / hourly initially, with a view to going full-time within 6 months (subject to delivery progress and funding).
Benefits / why this is worth doingJoin a fast-growing startup environment operating at the sharp end of AI-enabled product delivery.
A chance to shape products at the stage where smart decisions create outsized impact.
Work closely with senior leads (Tim Olsen and Simon Grice) and an AI-enabled dev team, move quickly, ship often, improve constantly.
Flexibility at the start (contract basis), with a clear pathway to full-time.
Be part of the momentum, a genuine slice of the AI future as it moves forward, with real influence on what gets built and how.
