Job Description & How to Apply Below

I am currently working with a market leading tier 1 contractor who is looking for an estimator or assistant estimator. You will be joining a well‑established team within an ambitious company.

My client is considering assistant estimators (£28,000 - £38,000) or experienced estimators (£45,000 - £65,000), both levels also receive a car allowance. This is a hybrid role (3 days in the office) and can be based in Birmingham or Nottingham.

Applicants must have a full UK driving licence (or equivalent), BSc or HNC level of qualification and CSCS qualification. For experienced estimators, my client is looking for someone with 3+ years experience within a tier 1 or tier 2 construction contractor (not house building). You must have a proven track record of pricing projects as the lead estimator and be able to run your own tenders.

My client will consider applicants who are currently mid‑way through an apprenticeship scheme (day release at university / college) who also have Maths and English GCSE’s. They will also consider quantity surveyors who wish to move into estimating but you must have had direct exposure to preconstruction.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Support the pre‑construction team in preparing tenders to secure projects, with a particular focus on competitive design and build tenders for both new build and refurbishment projects
  • Liaise with planners, design managers and bid managers to deliver innovative solutions
  • Obtain the most competitive quote by understanding current market trends
  • Identify and report on risk and opportunity, and scope and produce accurate net estimates
