Job Overview
We're looking for an Assistant Building Surveyor to join our Kier Design team based in Nottingham, Cambridge, Gerrards Cross, Lincoln or Speke. As an Assistant Building Surveyor, you'll be working within the Architecture & Building Consultancy team, supporting them in delivering expert surveying services to both public and private sector clients. Your role will include conducting detailed building surveys, preparing condition reports, and advising on maintenance, improvements, development, or demolition.
You'll provide guidance on compliance, health & safety, sustainability, planning, and building regulations, ensuring clients receive practical, tailored solutions.
- Conducting detailed building surveys and preparing comprehensive condition reports with practical recommendations
- Providing expert guidance on building regulations, sustainability options, and compliance requirements
- Managing projects from inception to completion, including budget control and stakeholder engagement
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to create innovative, client‑focused solutions
- Mentoring junior colleagues and sharing your expertise across the wider team, building strong client relationships and contributing to business development
- You hold a degree qualification with relevant experience in building surveying, post‑graduate conversion qualification accredited by RICS and suitable for the sector pathway for Building Surveying
- Knowledge and experience as a Building Surveying practitioner across a range of building types and sectors – ideally with experience drawn from both the public and private sectors
- You have excellent project management skills with experience in JCT/NEC contracts
- You hold experience using NBS Chorus and AutoCAD software

Hours:
37.5 hours per week – some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.
Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per year + benefits
