Quantity Surveyor - Nottingham (Main Contractor)
£52,000 - £60,000 PAYE + Car / Car Allowance + Benefits

Due to continued business growth, our client is seeking a capable and commercially confident Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an established main contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work across the East Midlands and Yorkshire. Projects span Education, Commercial Office, Residential Apartments and Public Sector developments, with values ranging from £500k to £50m (typically £10m-£15m).
You’ll be responsible for the commercial management of 1-2 live projects at any one time, ensuring financial control, risk management and profitability throughout the project lifecycle.
The role is primarily office-based from their Nottingham hub, with regular site visits to allocated projects. Hybrid working is available.
Responsibilities- Full commercial management of assigned projects from pre-construction through to final account
- Preparation and management of project budgets and cost plans
- Procurement of subcontractors and suppliers
- Subcontract administration, including valuations and payments
- Preparation and submission of interim valuations
- Variation management and negotiation
- Cost forecasting and cash flow management
- Risk identification and mitigation
- Preparation of monthly cost/value reports
- Liaising with clients, consultants and site teams
- Ensuring compliance with relevant contract conditions (JCT / NEC)
- Degree‑qualified in Quantity Surveying (or related discipline)
- Minimum 1 year post‑graduate experience with a main contractor
- Experience commercially managing projects with limited supervision
- Strong understanding of JCT and/or NEC contracts
- Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong financial and analytical ability
- Ability to manage multiple live projects simultaneously
- Full UK driving licence
- Commercially astute and detail‑oriented
- Proactive and confident decision‑maker
- Organised with strong time management skills
- Collaborative team player
